Hi there teachers!
I see this project as being a good project for 7th graders. This way it isn't too elementary and it isn't high school level yet.
What I really wnat kids to learn from this project is just basics about clouds. I want them to be able to look into the sky and identify what clouds are up there. I want them to be able to know the basic facts about them as well.
No skills are really required, they have to have an open mind and should look forward to doing a creative project in the end.
This project is set up so there is as little computer time as possible. The web sites that they have to read from shouldn't take them very long. The first web site should take about 30-45 minutes to read. That also allows for the information to sink in. The second web site will vary depending on how much information the child took in from the first web site. Depending on that the second web site can take 10-30 minutes.
The teacher really shouldn't be looking to grade this project hard. If the child did the project and it looks like they put effort into it and the information that they presented is correct they should get a good grade. I am not looking to discrimminate against children who can't do crafts well...It was more about learning the basic facts anyway.
All in all, as long as their project doesn't look slap dashed together and the information is presented in a neat and organized way, they should all receive good grades.
